Design I Final Competition

Spring 2021

WELCOME TO THE DISASTER RAPID RESPONSE CHALLENGE

Welcome to the Fall 2021 Disaster Rapid Response Challenge where the top Design I teams (as picked in preliminary in-class competitions across 26 sections) showcase their final solutions and compete for prizes in a virtual pitch competition. The semester’s wicked problem is “Disaster Rapid Response,” where students seek opportunities to improve disaster response, recovery, prevention, or preparedness equipment and systems, for either local, regional, or global settings. Solutions designed by student teams should represent creative, novel responses to some facet of the challenge.  The brunt of solutions are technical in nature, but may touch on any technical field: electrical, mechanical, civil, environmental, computer science, chemical, geological, materials, mining, industrial, etc. (read the full Call For Proposals here).

Join us in person on Wednesday, December 8, when teams will compete for cash prizes, including a special Subject Matter Expert Pick.
